The Big Cart!

“Finally, there’s a grocery cart big enough to hold all the delicious food we produce in North Carolina,” Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler said of the cart. “It’s like a monster truck for groceries.”

The Got to Be NC Big Cart is a unique promotional vehicle rolling across North Carolina for the Got to Be NC Campaign. The Big Cart, as it is referred, is a 13’ tall by 15’ long shopping cart with a Chevrolet 396 V-8 engine and is 100% funded by NC businesses such as House-Autry Mills, Malt-O-Meal, Anne's Flat Dumplings, Neese's Sausage, and Nature's Own.

The Big Cart was debuted at the Raleigh Farmers Market Festival on July 13, 2006. The cart was put into motion to place emphasis on the numerous agricultural products grown or processed in the state. Agriculture is the number one industry in North Carolina and contributes approximately $70 billion to the economy.

Embarking on its sixth year as a part of Got to Be NC, the Big Cart is definitely a must see. The Big Cart will be making appearances at fairs, parades, supermarkets and special events throughout the year. Remember, when you want the best, it’s Got to Be NC.
