Abundance Of Fall Vegetables Available! Throughout much of history, November has often been thought of as a somber month because it signaled the start of winter. People would spend the month storing up their harvest and preparing their food and homes in order to survive the winter.
Fortunately, the outlook is a lot more cheerful now. This time of year, you will find an abundance of vegetables. Among these vegetables are beets, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, collards, kale, napa cabbage, peanuts, pecans, radish, pumpkins, romaine, snow peas, spinach, sweet potatoes and turnips. Delicious North Carolina apples are widely available direct from local farms and your local retailers for homemade apple pies. Many of our growers make apple cider, a wonderful addition to serve at your holiday meals. Other horticultural products to look for in November are Christmas trees, wreaths, garland, mums and poinsettias.
