English Toffee (Bill Leslie)

According to Bill, you really have to stir constantly or it will get scorched. The recipe doesn’t work if doubled. You just have to make two batches if you want that much. After trying it, you will want to make 2 batches!

cup chopped pecans or almonds
3/4
c. brown sugar
1/2
c. butter

Hershey bars

Directions

Spread ¾ cup nuts over bottom of buttered 8” X 8” pan. Combine brown sugar and butter in saucepan. Bring to rolling boil on medium heat stirring constantly. Boil 5-7 minutes (to 280 degrees) while still stirring constantly. Pour over nuts in pan. Cover with Hershey bars and let melt. Spread with knife and top with more nuts. Refrigerate or freeze until hard and then cut into bars.
