Grouper tacos

Fish tacos are fun for a group because of all the different toppings. The breading will work with almost any NC fish so you can enjoy this recipe throughout the year and depending upon what you catch.

Ingredients

Tacos:

pieces of grouper fillets

small flour tortillas, warmed
1/2
cup buttermilk
1
cup canola oil
Lemon pepper mayo sauce:
1/2
cup mayonnaise
1
1/2 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1
1/2 tsp. hot sauce

Directions

Step 1

Soak fish in buttermilk for 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 2

Combine flour, cornmeal, salt, white pepper and red pepper and place in a shallow dish.

Step 3

Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat until hot.

Step 4

Dredge fish in breading and fry until golden brown and cooked through, about 5-8 minutes.

Step 5

Lemon pepper mayo sauce: Combine ingredients and refrigerate until ready to use.

Step 6

Build your taco: Fill warm tortilla with fish, drizzle with sauce and top with optional toppings below.

Optional topping: diced tomatoes, shredded cabbage, fresh lime juice, pickled vegetables, capers, salsa, shredded cheese, and shredded lettuce.
