Local Cloth, Inc.

Local Cloth is a 501c3 nonprofit located in the River Arts District in Asheville. Their goals are 1) raise awareness and appreciation for local plant and animals fiber and fiber products 2) increase access to local textiles and fiber 3) strengthen the economic viability of the local creative community 4) to advocate for new markets, programs and services to add value to local products. Local Cloth offers a wide variety of fiber art classes, a retail shop for their member fiber artists and fiber farmers products, annual FiberFest for local fiber producers, Anything Fiber Sale, spring and holiday pop-up market, educational booth at SAFF, exhibitor at the Guild Fair and member of the Craft Guild of the Southern Appalachians. They are most excited about the Blanket Project. Blankets made from wool, mohair and alpaca from our fibershed (100 mi of Asheville), processed in TN or the NE, natural dyed locally and woven locally.Vision Statement: A regional fiber system that is healthy, abundant and sustainable, where farmers, designers and artists make a living wage.Retail location is 408 Depot St. where member fiber artists and fiber farmers sell their products.A classroom space offers workshops, four studio artists spaces and a dye lab. This is a member driven organization of 100-mile area within Blue Ridge Fibershed.Regular events are held such as Fiber Farmer Day held in conjunction with the WNC Farmers Market Springfest. Newly launched are Blue Ridge Blankets made from local fiber, local weavers and dyers.
