The North Carolina Department of Agriculture’s mission is to develop and expand markets through domestic and international channels for North Carolina’s food, fiber and forestry products. We recognize the impact chefs throughout the state can have in our achievement of that mission. For this reason, the North Carolina Department of Agriculture has created a “Culinary Ambassador Team” that will serve to support the department’s efforts to advocate and promote North Carolina food and beverage products throughout the state.

The NC Restaurant & Lodging Association’s annual Chef Showdown competition will serve as the mechanism to build this culinary team to serve a one-year term. These ambassadors will be the culinary voice of the North Carolina Department of Agriculture to advocate and promote North Carolina food and beverage products. This elite culinary team will assist in the department’s marketing efforts thru cooking demonstrations, educational discussions on healthy eating, seasonal recipe development and the general promotion of North Carolina’s food and agriculture industries.

This program is part of the NCDA’s domestic marketing group and for more information, contact Chad Blackwelder, NCDA’s food service marketing specialist at 919-707-3150 or chad.blackwelder@ncagr.gov.
